One of the most rewarding things about being an artist? The invitation to show a body of work in a public place.
Last winter, I was chosen to exhibit my paintings in a solo show at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre.
The main gallery space is a 19 foot wall that’s open to the second floor of the facility. The wood, concrete and glass reception area is the perfect place for my bright, colourful and nature-inspired paintings, don’t you think?
In addition to the eight paintings displayed on the ground floor, I have another nine lining the hallway of the upper floor. Both ‘wings’ of the exhibition can be seen from the front door!
“Luminous Abstractions: Exploring Nature’s Palette” invites viewers to immerse themselves in a sensory journey, experiencing the vibrant colours and forms of the natural world as reimagined through abstract art.
Paintings can be viewed daily, in person, at Port Coquitlam Community Centre, 2150 Wilson Ave, Port Coquitlam until January 14, 2025. All works are available for purchase through the Centre; just speak to the reception desk for details.
You’ll find all the exhibition details, along with images of the seventeen paintings in the show and my artist interview on the City’s website (scroll down, I’m near the bottom of the page ;- ).
If you pop in, I invite you to snap a photo of your favourite piece, post it on social media and tag me (@tamaragrandart). It’s always so much fun to see and hear other’s responses to the work!
