Etude #11 (16 x 20 inches, matted)

Description

One of three experiments in masking. Switching from my usual, more organic shapes, the masked shapes in these pieces were an exploration of straight edges. The contrast with the swooping curves of thick paint remind me of what I love about Emily Carr’s forest paintings.
