The beauty of small art

Recently, a friend introduced me to the idea of Artist Trading Cards and asked me if I’d like to swap some.

ATCs (as they’re known), are original bits of artwork that measure precisely 2.5 by 3.5 inches and are widely traded amongst artists in the know (one of whom I now am, and you are too 🙂 ).

There are so many things to love about these wee works of art. They’re original, one-of-a-kind, often bespoke (as artists like to personalize cards for those they’re trading with) and an affordable (i.e., almost free) way to collect beautiful art that doesn’t require (limited) wall space.

To the right are a sample of the cards I’ve created. As I’m less comfortable painting on tiny substrates, I’ve made mine from hand-painted papers collaged on cardstock. (You’ll recognize some of the papers from my “Petite Paper Paintings” explorations).

Scroll through the gallery below, to see some of the gorgeous ones I’ve received in return!

Artist friends – have you ever traded ATCs? Would you like to? Send me an email to get started!

Not an artist, but would love to receive some ATCs from me? All I need is a stamped, self-addressed envelope to get started. Reach out via email, please!
